In
2007, a caring and resilient lady named Mdm Lee was admitted into Bright Hill
Evergreen Home (BHEH). Today, at 105 years old, she is our oldest resident and
has become more than just a resident—she is an icon of the Home, loved and
cherished by all who know her.

Mdm Lee’s journey has not been without challenges. Living with a few medical conditions and unable to lift her right arm due to stroke, she refuses to let these limitations define her. Instead, she faces life with quiet strength and a purposeful spirt. At BHEH, she joins group exercises and cognitive games, showing that resilience and joy can be sustained at any age.

In her younger days, Mdm Lee worked as a nanny. With limited financial support, she sought refuge at BHEH where she could receive the care she needed. Today, her only kin is her beloved goddaughter, whom she has cared for since young. Though not related by blood, their bond is deep and unwavering.
Mdm Lee communicates mainly in Hakka and Hokkien, though with age, her speech has gradually become slurred. Despite this, her presence continues to light up the Home, as her warmth and sincerity transcend words.

Among the many friendships she has built here, one stands out—her special bond with Mr Sathish Kumar, the Home’s Principal Physiotherapist. Coincidentally, he too joined Bright Hill Evergreen Home in 2007, the same year as Mdm Lee’s admission. Over time, their relationship has blossomed into one that mirrors that of a mother and son. Their companionship is a beautiful testament to the strong, familial bonds that can be nurtured within our Home.

18 years on, Mdm Lee remains a treasured resident of the Bright Hill Evergreen Home family. She reminds us every day that love, resilience, and human connection are what truly make life meaningful—regardless of age or circumstance!
