Sunflower Block Opening Ceremony

Heralding a new era in senior care, we held our opening ceremony for the new Sunflower block on 12 May 23, marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey to redefine the standard of holistic care for the elderly. The event witnessed a joyous celebration, as residents, staff, esteemed guests and community came together to commemorate this significant milestone.

The new Sunflower block is a thoughtfully designed facility that seamlessly blend with practicality and comfort. With an emphasis on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, the nursing home boasts spacious living areas, beautifully landscaped gardens, and various recreational spaces aimed to enrich the lives of its residents.

The ceremony was graced by our Guest-of-Honour, Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health, who expressed heartfelt gratitude and excitement for the completion of the new block. Joining him was our Chairman, Bhikkhu Sik Kwang Sheng, to officiate the opening ceremony.

Adding to the significance of the event, our remarkable centennial resident, Mdm Lee Ah Mooi, presented a special token of appreciation to Mr Ong. Titled “Colours In Nature,” this unique artwork was created by her using the balloon artbrush technique, symbolizing that aging is a precious gift from nature and that our lives can be vibrant and full of joy in our golden years.

During the ceremony, esteemed guests had the opportunity to meet the highly skilled and compassionate staff, whose dedication and commitment to person-centered care were on full display. From nurses and to therapists and support staff, each member of the team embodies the philosophy of attentive and personalized care that we embrace.

Among the highlights of the event were heartfelt testimonials from residents and staff… let’s take a look at their messages..

“I like that I have developed a healthy routine here: regular meals, sleep and exercise. I wish BHEH can continue to serve and benefit the community. I wish everyone health always!” – Mr Tan, 74 years old, resident.

“I am thankful that I can stay here with no worries, and I look forward to feasting every Chinese New Year! I wish everyone at BHEH happiness every day.” – Mdm Neo, 63 years old, resident.

“I hope more people with passion will join us as our direct-care staff and care for our residents wholeheartedly. I wish all residents and staff good health and joy always!” – Treffany Liew, HR Manager.

Their words were a testament to the compassionate approach taken by the home, where residents and staff feel valued and belonged.
